UCTE in the Community

The members of UCTE are not only committed to improving their work environment but to the enrichment of the communities in which they live.

In 2002, it was Gander International Airport Authority, Local 90901 that helped kick start the PSAC’s Social Justice Fund by requiring the employer to contribute to a Humanities Fund that was administered by the Local.

UCTE is proud to have selected the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB) as its charity of choice.

When deciding what charity to support, UCTE considers various factors such as:

  • Did the charity provide assistance to people across the country?
  • Was the program funded largely through the agency’s own efforts and not through government?
  • Was the charity one that helped people live independently so that their quality of life is enhanced?

After considering these and other criteria, the CGDB stood out. Funds are raised principally through its annual Charity Golf Tournament in Ottawa. To date UCTE has raised over $8,000 for the CGDB.

This section highlights the many good works that our members do in their communities.
