Through the Darkness Shines a Light
We can’t help but be saddened by the devastation, loss of life and shear magnitude of human suffering that we’ve seen in Haiti, following the January 2010 earthquakes.
We had that same sadness and sense of helplessness just over 5 years ago in the wake of the 2004 Tsunami. We saw then and in the months that followed, the incredible difference our union’s Social Justice Fund made in the lives of those most affected.
Many employers that UCTE members work for make regular contributions to the Social Justice Fund and in part it has been through those funds that PSAC has been able to bring about real change in people’s lives around the world. Unfortunately, the largest employer, Treasury Board, has yet to come forward.
So until Treasury Board does their part our Locals will continue to lead the way.
The B.C. Lightkeepers from UCTE Local 20232 are donating $1,000 to the PSAC Social Justice Fund, Haitian Earthquake Relief and are challenging other UCTE Locals to make donations as well. The UCTE in turn will match any Local donations made to the fund. We encourage all our locals to get involed.
Let’s join with our members in Local 20232 and help shine a light.
