UCTE regrets to announce the passing of Brother Wade Sellers from illness this morning at 6 am. Brother Sellers was a long-time union activist with Local 90916 and had served in many executive positions over the years. Brother Sellers started this career in St. John's as a firefighter and remained in that position until his illness took over.
Brother Sellers had lost a lung to cancer in 1995 and had waged a courageous and spirited battle. Giving up was not something he knew how to do. During the most recent strike in St. John's, Brother Sellers reported religiously to the office, bright and early every morning and always wanted to be part of the action even though he knew his physical condition might limit him.
The firehall will have an honour guard for his funeral, scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 18 at 2 pm. The firehall will also have firefighters in attendance at the wake to honour Brother Sellars.
UCTE wishes to convey its deepest condolences to the family and co-workers of Brother Sellers. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
